Birding Adventure:
For the last couple weeks we have been following what is called the “Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail.” The last two campgrounds have had volunteer lead bird walks and we have taken advantage of these. Each day it has involved getting up early and hoofing it over to the meeting place. We always meet the nicest people and have now made some new “old friends” from Florida, John and Marie. I knew almost nothing about shooting skeet. Today we moved across the Sea Wind RV Park from the overflow area to a ringside seat on the park’s skeet range. Around noon I noticed a couple pickups had parked and two men were busy tuning up some weird looking Frisbee throwers. Continue reading Skeet:
Bird Paradise:
We are on the Great Texas Costal Birding Trail. We have moved north by thirty miles today and we are now camped on the Arroyo Colorado in a Cameron County Park called Adolph Thomae, Jr. The park itself is rather nice and caters to the hard-core fishing enthusiasts here in south Texas. We are on the mainland side of the Laguna Madre just inside the barrier islands along the Gulf Coast of Texas. We are just across the fence from the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge. It Helps to be from Oregon:
When Judy makes up her mind to go for a walk, you might as well get your gear out and get ready. I had found a new Geocache two miles down the beach from the coach. We are currently parked in Nueces County Park at Balli Beach on North Padre Island in Texas. The cabin fever has become somewhat intense since it has been cold and wet and miserable for almost a week now. Short dashes out to the beach to watch the slate gray water beat against the white sandy beach does not assuage our wanderlust. Continue reading It Helps to be from Oregon:
