We have disconnected from the world for three days at a little National Recreation Area campground on Lake Roosevelt, the lake behind Grand Coulee Dam. The park is right where the Gifford ferry crosses to Inchelium on the Colville Indian Reservation. There is no cell phone, no internet, no wi-fi, no Wal-Mart and no electrical hook up. The park is set in a lovely Pine forest right at the water’s edge.

Fishing the Kenai:
It is the 07th day of the 07th month of the year 07. The news reports three times the normal weddings this Saturday because it is such a lucky day. Las Vegas is booked for the same reason. Well we just couldn’t pass up this opportunity to try our collective luck. We have placed our fishing envoy, Jack, on the auspicious fishing charter boat, the “Carnivore” to try his luck at Halibut fishing in Cook Inlet on this triply lucky day. At the Lake:
We are spending three days at the Newman Lake, Washington, home of my sister, Holly. This is on the outskirts of Spokane and almost in Idaho. We are visiting with cousins Norm and Roger and Nephew Carl and his wife Melissa and Devin, Skyler and new grand niece Melody. Wednesday we will go to Colville and Kettle Falls to visit with a bunch more cousins and aunts. As much fun as it is to travel around the country and visit new places, it is also wonderful to visit family and friends. Continue reading At the Lake:
Bird Paradise:
We are on the Great Texas Costal Birding Trail. We have moved north by thirty miles today and we are now camped on the Arroyo Colorado in a Cameron County Park called Adolph Thomae, Jr. The park itself is rather nice and caters to the hard-core fishing enthusiasts here in south Texas. We are on the mainland side of the Laguna Madre just inside the barrier islands along the Gulf Coast of Texas. We are just across the fence from the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge.
