We are here, our last Province and an island at that. We had smooth sailing across the Gulf of St. Lawrence on the Ferry, Caribou. We were treated to a whale watching cruise at that. A Prince of a Place:
We are really getting into the swing of the Maritimes now. We spent the past two days in Cap Pelé, which is in the far eastern end of New Brunswick, where it attaches to Nova Scotia and the bridge to Prince Edward Island. Gaspé Peninsula:
We have spent most of the past week working our way around the Gaspé Peninsula. This is the southern boundary of the Saint Lawrence Seaway. The scenery is spectacular to the point that the travel brochures literally run out of superlatives to pile on. The Fontenelle National Park was spectacular and with the help of a naturalist we learned about and observed Herring Gulls, Double Crested Cormorants and Red Legged Kittiwakes. When It’s Springtime In the Rockies:
It is raining every day Well we did manage to sneak in a 10 km walk between rain showers today in Lake Louise.
Today we experienced one of life’s ironies. As we exited Trans Canada highway number 1 in Lake Louise we anticipated driving to the lake itself. We came to a four way intersection and found a billboard sized sign the warned that big rigs wouldn’t like the extreme alpine road conditions ahead. North of the Border:
Our border crossing was a total anti-climax to all of the dire predictions people like to shower on us. We did take the precaution of registering the serial numbers of all our tools, computers and cameras with the US Customs. Continue reading North of the Border:
