A Day in the Desert

We are back in the Sonoran Desert in the Southwest again. This is called the low desert as opposed to the high desert, the Mohave Desert, just north of here. Just to make this perfectly clear, Death Valley at minus 282 feet is part of the “high desert.” The low desert is also the hotter desert but once again Death Valley sets the records in this department. Now today we are in the boondockers mecca, Quartzite, and we are camped right out in the middle of the Sonoran Desert. They figure something like a million people take advantage of the free BLM camping around Quartzite. Continue reading A Day in the Desert

Redwoods

Here we are in California now. We haven’t noticed much change in temperature yet. The nights are close to freezing and days are low fifty’s. I know, “there is just no pleasing some people.” We did hurry this far because we heard there is a big storm approaching the Pacific Coast. Some points on the coast this weekend are anticipating winds of over forty miles per hour. We think we have gotten ourselves south of that and we are now somewhat inland in the midst of the California Coast Redwood Groves. Continue reading Redwoods

Goblin:

Arcturus is being haunted by a pumpkin goblin tonight. We heard a quiet knock on our door and when we opened the door here was a pint sized pumpkin goblin standing on our step. We invited her and her chaperons in and had a nice photo shoot session. Georgia Ann is just over 13 months old now and has taken her first solo steps. She is very cute in her little pumpkin outfit.
