We are full time travelers. We live in a 34 foot motor home. We travel from place to place towing a white Sprinter Van full of my tools and two Cattrikes. I like to play bluegrass music and you may find me at Bluegrass Festivals in Arizona during the winter months and in Washington and Oregon during the summer. We will also visit our daughter, Renee and her family in the Austen Texas area.

Fruit and Vegging

Here we are on the Richardson Highway, boondocking alongside side a small lake called Pippin Lake. We chose this spot because it is alongside the road and very visible for our friends Al and Audrey. We missed a call, but the message told us they were headed this way on their way to Valdez. It is another 80 miles to Valdez from here, but they have to come by here unless they come by ferry.

Fishing the Kenai:

It is the 07th day of the 07th month of the year 07. The news reports three times the normal weddings this Saturday because it is such a lucky day. Las Vegas is booked for the same reason. Well we just couldn’t pass up this opportunity to try our collective luck. We have placed our fishing envoy, Jack, on the auspicious fishing charter boat, the “Carnivore” to try his luck at Halibut fishing in Cook Inlet on this triply lucky day. The Wild Life

The best time to observe the “Wild Life” along the Alaska Highway is early morning. We made the effort this morning and were rolling by 7:30. During the day we crossed the summit of the Canadian Rockies at 4,250 feet. We pulled some nine percent grades, and although the highway was narrow and without shoulders we were able to drive on smooth paved roads with only an occasional rough spot, and these were always well marked. We have been cruising at about 50 mph in these mountains. Perhaps just a tad slower on the nine percent grades. Continue reading The Wild Life
