There really is a Grandparents Day; it is the first Sunday after Labor Day. In the Tice household we are celebrating Grandparents weekend. Jerry and Janene Tice have traveled here from Petersburg Illinois so Georgia Ann has all four of her grandparents here. Mark Tice, Georgia’s Uncle from Manhattan, also arrived via Thailand and Hong Cong. Jet lag and sleep deprivation could not dampen the celebration of new life.
Sweet Georgia Ann Tice is now five days old. She is settling into her home and appears to be enjoying all of the attention. She makes the rounds from one set of arms to the next and seldom objects. We have found her one big dislike; changing diapers. She is not wearing all of the pretty cloth diapers that the diaper team made just yet. They seem large, even the smallest size we made. She is sure to grow into them.
At this time I am proposing a collection of toasts to Sweet Georgia Ann Tice: We here at the Tice household will add our toasts to this collection. If you wish to e-mail your own toast I will add it to the blog site next week.
- From Papa Gary: “May you live as long as you want, and never want as long as you live.” (an old Irish saying)
- From Grandpa Tice: You are such a beautiful baby girl. You will always be so special.
- From Nana Judy: I hope you do not follow the Starr tradition that Nana and Mommy were cursed with. “I hope you have a little girl just like you!”
- From Grandma Tice: Not a toast, but a joy. You and I spent a wonderful night together so that Mommy and Daddy could catch up on their rest. I will treasure that night forever. Just you and me chatting and catching up on one another, interrupted only by snack time, diaper time…and a few other times I won’t mention publicly. Let’s just say you felt better after them!
- From Uncle Mark: May you always be the most fashionable girl in the play group. If you ever get tired of fleece jackets, hop on a plane to New York, and Uncle Mark will take you to Prada!
- From Uncle Glen: Georgia, I hope that you see as many new and wonderful things in your life that I have seen in mine. By the way, never forget that those round shinny things are called “Compact Disks”. We used to use those before they invented iPods. And those big black vinyl disks? we used to use them for skeet shooting.
- From Ed and Sarah Daugherty: To Georgia Ann, May she sail the seas of life in a fast boat and only minor storms.
- From Sue and Phil Owen: Dear little Georgia Ann: May you sing like your Papa Gary, be creative like your Nana Judy and dance away the night like your Mommy and Daddy. Oh what a lucky girl you will be!
