I have just about completed the little mountain railroad at the far end of the SP&S Railroad. This represents the United Railway branch of the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railroad. It could use a little more scenery, and the rails are yet to be laid to Keasey on the County Line. Judy and I have driven most of that and photographed the old right-of-way where we could.
Recently my efforts have turned to creating the “Disconnect Log Cars” used by the Oregon American Lumber Co. in Vernonia Oregon to transport the old growth Douglas Fir trees from the Rock Creek Drainage to their log pond in Vernonia, Oregon.
Here are a couple screen shots of the almost complete cars staged at the log dump. My hold-up has been installing the couplers on the cars. Every day I find a new feature on the program BlueprintEditor2.exe. Yesterday I discovered how to move the arrows around to indicate the location of the coupling pivot and coupling insertion points. I sure wish there was an up-to-date manual for working with the program. I am recording my discoveries because I will forget all of the tricks by the time I start a new project.
I am starting to reach out for help to the scenery building community in the Train Simulator 20xx arena. I understand they sometimes call themselves “simmers.”
What is next on my agenda:
1. Something that represents the log unloading feature. Some research is needed into what it was.
2. a spar pole and steam donkey for loading the cars up in the woods at Keasey.
Here is a gallery of photos of the new cars.
