Catching Up:

Seems to me like I owe all of you a blog to finish the story about replacing the carpet and tile in the coach. June was a very busy month. We did indeed finish the remodeling project and there will be a gallery of photos on the web site. We then rushed up to L. L. “Stub” Stewart State Park to clean cabins for two weeks in late May.

After that we did a whirlwind tour of Washington State to visit cousins and sisters and long time friends. That took us to Lacey, Port Townsend, Sequim, Issiquah, Cashmere and finally Puyalup . We had lots of adventures. For example, in Lacey we pulled into a parking lot that I thought hooked up to an open space behind a clinic. Oops, wrong. It was a short little parking lot. All I could do was to park head in into a regular car space. We then unhooked the van and finally found places to park each vehicle separately while we visited Judy’s cousin, Ed Burget.

In Cashmere we camped at a weeklong bluegrass festival with my sister, Holly. I am getting better at playing the guitar again. My fingers have pretty well healed completely. It has taken eight months. Now I can work on getting my finger strength and dexterity back.
Back in Puyallup we met with Glen and Barb at Barb’s folk’s home. We were just in time to welcome Washington’s newest residents and see grandson Patrick off to Oklahoma for a fifteen month school in aircraft engine maintenance.
So, you might ask, where are you now? We are back at one of our favorite state parks, Fort Yamhill State Heritage Park, in Grand Ronde, Oregon. We will be here for the months of July and August. Y’all come to see us, y’hear. There is a Pow Wow coming up next week and again in August. Anybody for couch surfing. If you are camping, there is the Spirit Mountain Casino just a mile or so away. Their slots are guaranteed to take your money as quickly as any, but their dry camping is free.
One last item to tidy up my back log. I rebuilt the power drive train on the recumbent tandem bicycle. The belt drive that I had built was not able to handle the half horsepower from the electric motor. I finally got tired of tinkering with it. I fired up the lathe and built special components to utilize a bicycle chain for the drive. There are photos of that project on today’s blog also.
Judy, also, has been keeping busy. For each granddaughter she is creating a duvet cover for their new bunk beds. For long time friends, Linda and Randy Dunn, she has dusted off her interior design hat and she is helping Linda create window treatments for their new home.

Yes, we keep busy all the time
Good bye now

P.S. Another of my railroading stories is being published in Classic Trains Magazine this month.
