Sweet Georgia:

At 7:36 P.M. Monday, September 11, 2006 Renee and Neil Tice welcomed sweet little Georgia Ann Tice into the family. When Judy and I left the hospital at nine p.m. everyone was doing just fine. You will find a photo of this precious little bundle below.

Neil and Renee have shared freely that the baby was going to be a girl, but they were very secretive about the name they had chosen for her. A couple of evenings ago they dropped over for a visit. I was practicing the guitar as they walked up. I often take out the guitar and practice my repertoire instead of watching TV. When they came in Renee asked me what I had been playing. I told her I was practicing “Sweet Georgia Brown.” She commented that she didn’t remember it being part of my normal repertoire, and I explained it was a song I had always liked and it was in Judy Lahore’s fake book. Tonight Neil and Renee told us that they were sure I had guessed the baby’s name. They couldn’t figure out how, because they had been very tight lipped. She thought that I had perhaps overheard her humming the tune or something. Honest Renee, I had no idea.
