After a week packed like sardines in the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds in Chico we are once again on the road. For the next couple weeks we will be traveling with our friends from Washington, Henry and Judy Lahore.
But first a few notes about the Escapades: When you pack over 700 RV’s of every shape and description; from million dollar Provosts to home converted busses; and 38 foot fifth wheel trailers with three axles and full sized Volvo toter trucks to pickup campers, you get a very wide range of interesting people.
We met up with several old friends and made lots of new friends at the event. In particular we got together with Larry and Marie Emerson. Larry is a brother to some very old friends from Pasco, Mary Kay and Jim Britton. We last saw Larry and Marie at Mary Kay and Jim’s wedding over 25 years ago. We got together with them and some new friends and had a barbeque one evening and did a lot of catching up.
Judy spent several hours each day in the crafts hall and has now taken up tatting. She has a couple antique tatting shuttles from her Grandmother, and often wished she could learn how. Previously Judy tried to learn from a book back in 1974. Without the help of a teacher she was not successful. She is getting along very well, and I can only imagine the projects that are bubbling in her mind at this moment.
The last couple days in Chico were hot and muggy. When we drove the last ten miles down the hill into Eureka the temperature dropped from 91 to 68 on the dash thermometer, and the skies turned to swirls of mist. What a relief! We have had two beautiful days here exploring the Redwoods and soon will return to our home state of Oregon.
We send our love and best wishes to all from the North California Coast.
Gary and Judy Dinsmore.
