We have been out of touch for a few days. Sporadic cell coverage and no e-mail. We have been able to link up with some of our new found friends at different campgrounds that we have been at. We have been up and down the Colorado River for most of the last month. First at Blythe California then after Quartzsite we stayed on Lake Havasu, which is the Colorado backed up behind Parker Dam. Last night we were near Topock AZ but on the California side of the Colorado River in a park called Moabi Regional Park. Some of the camp sites are so close to the water that you can kick gravel from your campsite into the Colorado River. Now we have moved to Bullhead City. Again we are in Arizona, but now we are across the Colorado from Laughlin Nevada. This time we are backed right up to the Colorado. If the parking brake fails we will be floating downriver to Lake Havasu again.
We have come here this time for the Colorado River Bluegrass Festival. The wind is sure blowing through camp, however. The neighbor assures me that it always blows like this here. Somehow I think this might make for some funny sounding music. The banjo player strums a chord, the wind picks up the notes and they reflect off the guitar players instrument. The violin player’s rip sound like it is coming from the mandolin and the bass notes bounce off the nearby RV and come back about a half beat out of sync. Only time will tell. We got here two days early, and the Davis Camp area is probably half full already. I am guessing something like 60 rigs in here already. This place has no clubhouse, so it will all be open air. I thought of calling up and asking them how much they would pay for me not to come. We have only been here three hours and already we hear that rain is predicted for Friday.
The one question that remains unanswered at this time is; “Will Gary have enough courage to join in any of the Bluegrass jam sessions?” Stay tuned for further developments.
We send our love to all of our friends and relations, bye, Gary and Judy
